Day one runs from an early Marrakech pickup to a sunset arrival at the dunes; day two retraces the Draa Valley and the Atlas back to Marrakech by evening. If long driving days don't appeal, a 3-day trip spreads the same distance more comfortably and adds a second night out.
Is the desert camp comfortable?
The standard camp on this tour is a Berber tented camp near the Zagora dunes — proper beds and bedding, shared washing facilities, and a communal area for dinner and music around the fire. It is comfortable and authentic rather than five-star. October to April is the prime window, with warm, clear days and cold but comfortable desert nights. Spring and autumn are ideal for the long Atlas and Draa Valley drives. Summer (June–August) is intensely hot in the south, so we start early, keep the camel trek to the cooler ends of the day and recommend a camp with proper shade.
