Overview

The classic overnight: a sunset camel caravan over the orange dunes of Erg Chebbi, dinner and music at a Berber camp, then a quiet sunrise climb before riding back out.

Erg Chebbi is the great wall of sand near Merzouga — dunes up to 150 metres tall that glow copper at sunset and pale gold at dawn. This overnight is the simplest way to feel the Sahara properly: meet your camels in the late afternoon, ride out as the light softens, and arrive at camp in time to watch the colour drain from the sky.

Dinner is a slow tagine by lantern, followed by Berber drumming around the fire and a sky thick with stars. You sleep in a sand-floored Berber tent, wake before dawn, and climb a nearby dune to watch the sun lift over the Algerian border before the gentle camel ride back to Merzouga.

Can I change the dates or itinerary?

Yes. Every itinerary is a starting point. Add a day, swap a riad, change the start city — we'll re-quote in 24 hours and lock the price in writing before any deposit.

How fit do I need to be?

Easy. Light walking on medina cobblestones, plus optional activities you can opt in or out of on the day.

When should I book?

For high season (Oct–Apr) and any trip involving the Sahara or an overnight desert camp, book 8–12 weeks ahead. Last-minute (under 14 days) is usually still possible with a phone call.
