Why Agadir

Agadir is the soft landing after a hard desert run — Morocco's premier beach resort, a sweeping crescent of golden sand with 300+ days of sunshine, where travellers come to swap dune-walking for sea air and a sun-lounger. It isn't desert and doesn't pretend to be: it's the honest counterpoint, the place to rinse off the Sahara and rest. The rebuilt kasbah looks over the bay, the surf village of Taghazout sits just north, and Paradise Valley hides in the Anti-Atlas behind. Many southern desert routes (via Taroudant or the Drâa) end here on the coast for a few decompressing days.

FAQ

Agadircommon questions.

Is Agadir a good place to end a Sahara desert tour?+

Yes — it's the easiest beach base in the south for unwinding after the dunes, with reliable sun, a long swimming beach and quick access to Taghazout surf and Paradise Valley. Southern desert routes via Taroudant or the Drâa Valley can finish here on the coast.

Is Agadir part of the desert?+

No — Agadir is an Atlantic beach resort, the cool, breezy opposite of the Sahara. We include it as a contrast and a place to rest. The sand dunes are far inland and south at Merzouga and Erg Chigaga.
