Reckon on 95 km of road and roughly 1h 15 of actual driving, not counting the photo halts and tea breaks. On the long southern hauls we plan in proper rest stops and we never push a kasbah road or a mountain pass faster than it deserves.

The fare is fixed and all-in: $65 in a sedan (1–3 travellers), $85 in a 4x4 built for the piste (up to 6), or $95 in a minivan (up to 7). Diesel, every toll, the driver and chilled water are already in the price — settle up in cash on the day or wire it across beforehand.

Of course — pulling over at will is exactly why desert travellers hire a private car over a train or a packed shuttle. Just point your driver toward whatever you want to see; the rhythm of the day is yours to set. Want a proper guided halt? We will simply price it as a day tour.

Either does the job on this corridor. The train undercuts us city-centre to city-centre, but a private car comes to your door, swallows all the luggage, leaves when you say and lets you break the trip wherever you fancy. For families and tight onward connections, we lean toward the car.
